1.Applies to 1980 and Newer Big & Mini Cars. 6 Cyl. Cars less than 106" wheelbase will run with 4 Cyl. Cars.
2.Flagmen will measure, check and clear. NO JEEPS, LIMOS, VANS, CONVERTIBLES or CHECKER CABS.
3.All glass - including headlights, mirrors, windshields etc. removed before being brought to derby.
4.Stock gas tanks must be removed. Use steel marine tank or custom steel tank, NO Plastic tanks. Tanks must be secured and fastened down in the middle of the back seat area & covered with a fire shield. Max. 3 Gallons of Gas.
5.Cars with electric fuel pump must have a safety shut off switch mounted on the top of the steering column or dash for easy access for DRIVER & FLAGMEN. All fuel lines must have leak proof fittings with rubber or steel lines. Lines should run inside of car.
6.No special bumpers or reinforcements are allowed. 1970's bumpers CAN NOT be used on 1980's cars. Only car bumpers on cars ( no truck bumpers). 6-8 Cylinder bumpers on 6-8 Cylinder cars. 4 Cylinder bumpers on 4 Cylinder cars.
7.All trailer hitches must be removed and rough edges pounded down prior to derby.
8.12 volt car battery must be moved to the front passenger floor and placed in a container away from the Gas tank and must be secured and fastened down and covered with a shield.
9.Roll bars can be used if desired.
10.Drivers must drive forward and backward. There will be NO DELIBERATE HITTING ON THE DIVERS DOOR, OR DRIVER TRYING TO PULL HIS DOOR-WHICH COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. (Decision of the flag crew.)
11.All doors must be welded or wired shut, including station wagon tailgates.
12.Cutting fender and body for wheel clearance is allowed.
13.Drivers must not leave their cars unless told to do so by track official and only when the flag is raised.
14.In Case of a Fire or Rollover, stay clear of the ring and off of the track. A car that rolls is disqualified from the heat, but upon re-inspection by the flag crew and okayed for safety may go into hard luck if there is one. This could vary by Derby. (Flag crew's decision).
15.No spring jacks or blocked shocks allowed. Suspension must remain stock (must have movement).
16.Hoods and trunk lids must be operable; they must be wired but not welded.
17.ALL CARS AND TRUCKS MUST HAVE WORKING BRAKES AT ALL TIMES.
18.There must be at least 12" hole in hood above the carburetor in case of fire.
19.Radiator must be flushed of anti-freeze and replaced with water only, overflows must point straight down or positioned so as not to cause harm to other drivers.
20.All air bags and sensors must be removed.
21.All flammable material except the driver's seat and dashboard must be removed.
22.Maximum 16"D.O.T. Tires. No forklift tires. All tires must be filled with air only.
23.All wheel weights must be removed.
24.DRIVERS DOOR ONLY TO BE PAINTED WHITE, with car number IN BIG LETTERS, and also CAR NUMBER ON PASSENGER DOOR AND ROOF as well. NO ALL WHITE CARS.
25.On the outside of the drivers door there may be a thin steel plate bolted in 4 locations, max ½" through bolt & spot welded, no angle iron or C channel.
26.No dash bars across dash.
27.Over repaired frames could be considered reinforced and result in disqualification or adjustment. Official's decision. Drivers may be asked to cut over repaired areas.
